Sunset solar eclipse to brush Columbus Sunday
The partial eclipse will begin at 7:23 p.m. and will continue until the sun sets at 7:42 p.m., according to NASA's website.
The eclipse will be not be total because of the relative positions of the Earth, Moon and sun. At sunset Sunday, the moon will still overlap one edge of the sun. Ten minutes after the sun sets, at 7:52 p.m., the dark spot of the moon will be surrounded by a blazing ring of fire.
The eclipse will be visible from the West Coast, Hawaii, Alaska, western Canada and much of eastern Asia.
Do not look directly at the sun unless you are wearing specially-designed eye protection such as eclipse glasses or welder's goggles. Sunglasses are not adequate protection.
To safely view the eclipse, use a magnifying glass or pair of binoculars to project the sun onto a blank surface such as a wall or sheet of paper.
